Our first point of visit will be the Mirador de Yanahuara, besides offering a privileged panoramic view of the city and the volcanoes Chachani, Pichu Pichu and Misti, highlighting its arches of sillar, a white volcanic stone typical of colonial architecture in Arequipa, surrounding the observation deck. <\/p>\r\n<p>On our route the second point will be the A\u00f1ashuayco Quarry. This is the place from where the iconic sillar (the white volcanic stone used in Arequipa&#8217;s colonial constructions) is extracted. It is still in full exploitation, which is why it has become an immense canyon with gigantic white walls, about 30 meters high. The local artisans explain their carving techniques and show the different uses of the stone.  <\/p>\r\n<p>Next, we will arrive at the Quebrada de Culebrillas, an ashlar quarry that is not in exploitation, it is here where we will walk for about 20 minutes, this small canyon will allow us to observe the enigmatic petroglyphs engraved on its walls.<\/p>\r\n<p>On the way back to the city we will observe the Apachetas, cone-shaped stone structures on the banks of the Inca Trail, as an offering.
